HHS PBL 2017

How can we have a positive impact our community? During the next five weeks, we have a Project Based Learning where we have to choose a topic/issues in our community and how we can help. Our group, B.A.P. (Frances, Jennifer, Princess) choose the topic Smoking
Here are some websites that help us understand lung cancer better:

Website Name
Link
Date we accessed site
Ministry of Health
Nov.14
Health Navigator
Nov.14
Southern Cross Medical Care Society
Nov.14
Smoke-Free
Nov.15
World Health Organisation

We then had to answer some questions about our topic:

Who is affected? Tobacco users are the once that are most affected also the people who work with people who smoke (because of secondhand smoke).
When and how did this start? Smoking became mainstream and many people started smoking.
Where is it happening? Many people smoke around the world. The number of smokers in NZ is currently dropping because of the Smokefree law.
Why is this happening? Many adults often smoke to relieve stress. There are also people who are unaware of the risk of smoking.
